Very good indeed, though again, having been here before, I was hoping for something new. I didn’t write down exactly what we had there, but I do recall some excellent bacon wrapped dates and paella. We moved onto Julian Serrano, for some tapas. So we all ate too much of rice and beans to start with. We’re all hungry and Mexican food is not known for being light. But as a starting point of a food tour, it wasn’t great. These were both accompanied by rice and refried beans. We were then seated and given some tortilla chips, and two types of enchilada’s-crab and chicken. I’ve been here before a couple of times, but they gave us a nice tour of the place, telling us the stories behind the wood carvings there. First stop was Javiers, the Mexican restaurant inside Aria. We paid for the tour but not the drinks-it was pricey as it was and neither of us drinks too many cocktails-beer and wine for us most of the time which we were able to order and pay for easily as we arrived. You are walked into a pre-prepared table in each restaurant, so no hanging about, and service at each was excellent. At each you are provided with a small plate of a few of their signature dishes and, if you paid the additional $60 on top of the $199 tour price, they gave you their signature cocktail as well. The plan for the tour is that you eat in five different restaurants, none of which are disclosed to you in advance. We met our guide, Ray, at Aria at 5.45pm and met the other members of the party-two very nice couples, one from Canada and one from Southern California. ![]() So I booked us on the ‘Lipsmacking Foodie Savors of the Strip Tour’. We knew at the start of the week that with it being just two of us this year we needed to be more social. ''This evening we are booked on a food tour. It was pretty well run, but as you say, quite pricey. ![]() That year there were just two of us on our annual trip and we thought it was a good way to be more social, and in that regard it worked. My main criticism was that the places we went generally were not that new to us. I've posted the relevant extract from my TR that covered this below. It's a few years now since I did this (May 2017), but it was an enjoyable experience.
